Write for us
We welcome thoughtful pitches about rural landscapes and the details of countryside life: landforms, field edges, seasonal change, weather as something to observe, and wayside signs. A strong contribution gives curious readers a fresh, grounded way to look.
What makes a good pitch
Send a concise outline of the central question, the reader takeaway and why the subject suits this almanac. We favour clear, self-contained ideas that need no statistics, first-hand testing or specialist instruction to be useful. A specific angle is more helpful than a broad proposal to cover the countryside.
Writing approach
Use precise language, explain unfamiliar terms and distinguish observation from interpretation. Avoid unsupported claims, universal rules based on one place, and advice that depends on local requirements or professional judgement. Tell us what material or expertise the proposed piece would need.
How to propose
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include a short outline and any relevant writing context; do not send a finished article unless it has been requested. We cannot promise a response time or publication.
